I may be a little late on this, but my lovely friend Tiffany, from MrsTeehLoveLifeLaughter invited me to take a tour through Blogland.  I really enjoyed reading her post and was so gracious when she extended me an invitation to join in.

So, if you will, join me on a tour through blogland by taking a stop and look at New Mama Diaries…

We’ll start the tour off with a little who, what, when, where, and why for those of you who don’t know much about NMD.  For those that do, well you get to learn a little more. 🙂

Let the fun begin!

What are you working?

  • Too much
  • Not enough
  • A little bit of everything!

Its in my nature to stay busy.  Even when I need to take a break, I find something to work on.  I have an endless list of things to do, from my blog, to videos, to designing, to just keeping my head on straight.  One of my main focuses right now is my designing and my shop.  I just open it in February of this year, and I’ve been fortunate to have gotten off to a great start.  I sure hope the momentum continues!  In addition to my shop, I’ve recently delved into web/blog design.  I develop and custom themes on the Genesis framework, even New Mama Diaries is now on the framework and I love it.  I absolutely love developing and designing blogs, I’m constantly learning more, challenging myself, and having so much in the process.

Additionally,  with my revamp of New Mama Diaries, I been so inspired to blog even more and really get back to my roots with sharing and helping fellow bloggers, moms, and pretty much everyone.  I run a weekly link up with April of 100LB Countdown and Brittnei of Homemaking With Style, called the Creative Style Linkup.  We go live every Saturday at 8 P.M. EST.  I also co-host another link party called Turn It Up Tuesday with Natasha from Epic Mommy Adventures, and several other awesome co and guest hosts every Monday evening at 8 P.M. EST.  Turn It Up Tuesday just turned 1 and Natasha holding a huge giveaway to celebrate.  If you haven’t entered, you should, so head over and do so, like now!

How does your work differ from others of its genre?

To be honest, I believe that everyone’s work is different from others in their genre.  No one can be me, so therefore everything I do is different.  I don’t try to be anyone, but myself, because that’s what works for me.  If genre is meaning “Blogging” then the aforementioned applies.  If its referring to niche, well then…although I’m a lifestyle and motherhood blogger, I blog and touch on so many other aspects of life and experience.  I don’t define myself by just those two niches, because I truly consider myself a niche less blogger and I’m okay with that.  Again, I’m just me!

Why do you write/create what you do?

Well we started here:

40Weeks

And now we’re here:MeandChunk

That’s really all I can say.  New Mama Diaries started out as merely a way for me to chronicle my (first) pregnancy with my son a year and also a half ago.  We’ve come such a long way!

How does your writing/creating process work?

I wish I had a picture, but I don’t!  Its usually just me sitting on my bed, on my laptop working away.  Hopefully, one day I’ll have an actual workspace again, but for now I just work with what I got.  As far as my creative process, I get ideas for posts all the time.  I can be watching tv, driving, showering, listening to music, or doing nothing.  When I  think of an idea or prompt for a post, I get a hold of my nearest device; MacBook, iPad, or iPhone and create a draft.  Depending on what I’m doing at the time, I may or may not finish it and publish or schedule it.  Pretty clear cut!

As far as my design work, I find inspiration from everywhere.  Pinterest being one of those places of course!  I love looking through tons of pretty pictures and getting inspired and motivated.

For videos, they usually go hand and hand with my blog posts.  However, I want to start doing more fun stuff with video and have some things in the works!  You’ll have to stay tuned for that!

Alright everyone, I think that just about covers it!  Next up on the tour, I love to see my ladies Brittnei at Homemaking With Style and April at 100LB Countdown do a tour!  They’re busy ladies, but hopefully they’ll take a few moments out to take you on a tour of their blogs.

  1. I love getting to know more about bloggers like this. I did this a while back and it was super fun. I have my own work space but it’s not available in winter so during winter I designated dining room as my work space !

  2. I love the updated photos!! So cute.
I’m with you on how everybody’s work differs. We’re all different people. Unless you’re literally copying, nearly word for word, from another blogger, which I’ve totally see happen.
People always ask me how I can keep all my blogging friends straight, but it’s because we’re all different with different stories!

  3. Yay for the niche-less!!
Too much, not enough, and a little bit of everything <– story of my life!
I'm always going but even though my wheels are turning, sometimes I'm going nowhere. I need to do something about that.

  5. So much fun this tour! As busy as I’ve been, I’m glad to say I’ve kept up with you and I knew that is what you’ve been doing. It’s so funny because I remember your pregnancy posts on the Mommy Monday Blog Hop way back when I first started that. 🙂 You’ve come such a long way. I soooo want you to work on my blog design and all. I hope to take pictures at the end of this year with my huge belly so perhaps I can work family photos into my blog’s design. I will keep you posted on that. I am loving your new layout and everything very much. 🙂 I need to get started working on my post!

  6. Cool! I was actually thinking about doing something like this for October’s Power Hours – concentrating on one blogger. Now that I see it in action, I love it! Thanks for sharing this blogger’s interview. It’s nice to read about others’ perspectives on blogging, where they got their start and their process.

  7. Thank you for tagging me! I hope to get to this in the next week or so. I’ve just been so wrapped up in my babies and life, I haven’t done much personal blogging at all. Happy to be your partner at Creative Style!
