NaBloPoMo | Me, My Brand, & I

So this NaBloPoMo post is supposed to be about an imaginary brand that I’d love to work with.  However, we all know that I have a real brand that is very close to my heart, Sweet Face Studio.  The name alone is special, as its named for one of the many names I call my son:  Sweet Face.

Who doesn’t look at their child and think they have the sweetest face?  That’s where the name came from, its a namesake, and its special.  When I first decided I wanted to do design, I figured it would be a creative outlet as I was new to being a SAHM.  On a whim I asked my husband to get me Illustrator and Photoshop, and even get me a Wacom tablet.  I was serious y’all!

The funny thing is that my reality ended up becoming a dream.  I always wanted to be an entrepreneur, but thought I would own a restaurant or bakery later in life…never even thought design.  Now, my dream is to be the best graphic and web designer and developer I can be.  I started off making printables, cute things people could download and use.  First it was monogrammed binder covers, then digital stamps and digital art, next thing I know I was creating planners and collateral branding pieces like business cards, logos, and headers for websites.

I kept pushing myself to my creative limits, I wanted more, I needed more and so I delved into web design.  I’d already setup my own blog on Blogger and migrated it over to WordPress myself and customized my own theme, and I loved doing it.  I figured, hey why not add blog/web design to the shop.  At first I built and customized a few Blogger themes, but really wanted to design WordPress themes.  Since I blog on WordPress, I work on the platform more and to be honest it was more challenging, so I had to do it. I think that’s the one thing I look for in a a brand I trust, always reaching for higher and better.   Futhermore, I wanted to design the best websites and blog themes, so I chose the Genesis Framework to build them on, since its the industry standard.

The one place I hope to take my brand is to a place that makes people happy.  I can’t tell you how HAPPY, truly happy it makes me to see my work make someone’s day.  There’s no feeling more awesome than someone taking value in your work and really appreciating it.  That’s how you know a brand transcends, when it really makes an impact on people.  Every brand that I trust does this and I want to do the same for others.  A brand that does this is the type of brand I want to have, the type of brand I strive to have, and the kind of brand I will continue to work towards having.  At the end of the day, I want people to trust me, enjoy my work, and for it to truly make them smile.  I know any brand that makes me smile is a good brand, and my brand makes me smile.  Now, I want it to make everyone else smile!
