I can never get enough fonts, as you from my previous Fonts I’m Loving post.  I seriously wish I had the skills to create typography and calligraphy.  I have a couple of programs on my Mac that are industry standard for typography, but have little to no idea how to use them.  I know for sure that I want to learn the art hand-lettering/calligraphy.  It truly is an art form, and though I’m not an intrinsically talented illustrator, I am a pretty creative designer, or so I think I am.

I could spend hours looking at lovely calligraphy, I even have an entire board on Pinterest dedicated to it.  I could also do the same for fonts, and you guessed it, I too have a board dedicated to them on Pinterest.  Since I’ve become passionate about designing, its opened up an entirely new appreciate and love for the arts.  The time and dedication that people put into designing and creating is so underestimated.  No matter whether you are an expert or not, the processes are tedious.  I spend hours pawning over the smallest details on my designs, so I can only imagine how long it takes to do intricate calligraphy.  I would love to take a class on it and even a graphic design class on typography.

I’ve always only worked in the professional and military sectors, never in the arts.  I never even considered myself an artsy person.  I mean I have always been crafty and loved to create, but never really got into creating any type of work.  I think when you create, you have a deeper appreciation for all things creative.  This extends to blogging and writing, because until you do it, you would never understand the time, energy, and sometimes sacrifice that it takes.  Sounds a bit similar to pregnancy and motherhood, huh?  What a funny epiphany I’ve just come to, go figure!  So, I guess I can thank my son for opening my Pandora’s Box of creativity since my husband and I created him (tmi? hope not!)  Creativity is born in some of the most unlikely ways, some intentional, other’s not so much!

  1. I’m obsessed with fonts too but I always get too overwhelmed to mess much with them on my blog. I wish I could get more daring!

    1. I know exactly what you mean! I keep the ones on my blog clean and modern. I’d love to have a script or fancier font, but I’d get carried away and no one would be able to read anything I post, lol!

    1. Oh wow, really?! Its pretty easy on both systems, but sometimes they come in a ZIP (compressed folder) and that can make it a bit tricky to figure out at first. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

  2. These are definitely some great designs and I can totally see what you mean about all the work going into these and so many other design projects. I honestly consider you to be a pretty good designer. I love even your blog design! 🙂
