This past Christmas I made festive gold accented red bows to as part of our Christmas decorations. I even made the topper for the tree.
I was commissioned by my mom to do all the bow making this year, even though she’s an awesome bow maker and all around crafty woman. When she was younger she used to wrap presents for all her brothers and sisters (she’s one of 11 children) at Christmas and learned how wrap beautifully. That means she’s made a lot of bows in her life, and can altogether probably wrap a present better than I’ll ever be able to. Fortunately, I inherited her same artsy nature and I’m pretty good with my hands like her, so when she showed me how to make a bow, I took an inch and went a mile!
Small a the bottom of the staircase
Medium sized bow in the middle of the staircase.
Large sized bow that was at the very top of the staircase. – Couldn’t get an up close front picture of it.
I’d never made bows prior to Christmas, which is super funny considering how crafty I am. I guess I just never had a reason to do so. Also, I’ve never had to do anything that required making a bow. Well, I guess that’s not true. All those times I went out and bought bows, I could have just made them. If only my mom had shown me sooner. Honestly, I think she forgot she knew how to make them, prior to her showing me how during the holidays. Needless to say, she now remembers and I now know how. So now, I will show you how:
xxoo,
Are you proud of me? I watched it all twice! My mom is an artist/art teacher and she tried teaching me to make bows when I was little and I never really caught on well. These are gorgeous.
Thanks so much! 🙂 I totally am! LOL! I’m pretty sure my mom tried to show me when I was younger, but I probably didn’t pay attention.
I love it, Tenns! It reminds me of how my grandma used to decorate the house around Christmas and winter time. She still does it but she lives in NJ so I can’t see it! I’m going to pin this! I love that you did a video with it. 🙂
Aww! I’m so glad my tutorial reminded you of your Grandma. That’s awesome you have such a festive Grandma, I know mines was. I really miss her! Thanks so much for sharing girl! 🙂
Those look fantastic, thanks for the tutorial! Thanks for sharing on the weekend re-Treat Link Party!

Wow–I can tie bows decently, but I’ve never made one that fancy! Beautiful! Looks like you learned a new skill!
